There are so many that are facing incredible trials and wonder where God is in the midst of their difficulty. God’s word teaches us that no trial is without great purpose, and puts us in the place of trusting, though we might not at the moment be able to see the outcome.
D. L. Moody often taught that there are three kinds of faith in Jesus Christ: struggling faith, which is like a man floundering and fearful in deep water; clinging faith, which is like a man hanging to the side of a boat, and resting faith, which finds a man safe inside the boat, strong and secure enough to reach out his hand to help someone else.
We never know what type of faith we have until we encounter the deep water of trials and then, as Christians we discover how much of our witness has been mere boast.
When God seems so quiet we must take it as a time of growth and live with the attitude revealed in words etched in a prison cell in Europe. “I believe in the sun even when it is not shining. I believe in love even when I don’t feel it. I believe in God even when He is silent.”
Today, if need be shout at the storm “I believe God!” and leave the rest up to Him who can still the storm or walk with you on the stormy seas
