Then He said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me.” Matthew 26:38
The ministry of presence is something any believer can do and it does not require any special training. It was what Jesus was asking for from His three closest disciples on the night he agonized in the garden of Gethsemane. He wanted them to keep watch and pray with, and for Him, as He faced a great battle.
I think all of us know people going through great personal battles and we can offer our support by being present with them calling on the Father for His intervention. I know many battling cancer, turbulent home or work situations, and any number of physically and emotionally painful tribulations.
I am praying for Tom, Cheri, Vincent, Betty, Brenda, and many others. Please feel free to add to my list the first names of people I can also be praying for. I will be interceding in the mighty name of Jesus Christ for them as well..
