“Blessed be the Lord, for He has made marvelous His lovingkindness to me in a besieged city” Psalm 31:20
One of the most enriching things we can show to another is an act of kindness.
All of us have greatly benefited from those who have blessed us with kindness in a time when things seemed to besiege us on every side. Kindness has a way of cleansing our soul from the debris of the many conflicts we all face on any given day. But kindness does it’s best work when once it has been received it motivates us to pass it on to another.
Emily Dickinson in her poem IF I CAN STOP ONE HEART FROM BREAKING writes:
‘If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain.”
James S. Hewett gave ten rules for getting rid of the blues. “Ten rules for getting rid of the blues: Go out and do something for someone else, and repeat it nine times.”
Proverbs says, “What is desirable in a man is his kindness.” 19:22
So today I ask all who read this to help initiate a season of kindness without a day passing where we have not done an act of kindness.
Love,
Pastor Bob
