IN HIS MOST CAPABLE HANDS!

IN HIS MOST CAPABLE HANDS!
August 8, 2026 Pastor Bob Barnett

“So I tell you, don’t worry about everyday life – whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn’t life consist of more than food and clothing? Will all your worries add a single moment to your life?” (Matt. 6:25,27 LB)

Worrying is probably one of the most detrimental habits we can get into because it can decrease our effectiveness in so many other areas of life. All of us have experienced this kind of worry, and because of it, have found ourselves focusing on events that haven’t taken place yet. Like Mark Twain said “I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them have never happened.”

Worry is our energy passively being drained away, and it accomplishes nothing in the process. Because of the lack of focus on other things we can disconnect our attention from the things that really matter, and be kept from living our lives as God intended us to.

Oswald Chambers wrote: “It is not only wrong to worry, it is unbelief; worrying means we do not believe that God can look after the practical details of our lives, and it is never anything but those details that worry us.” Worrying cannot add a single moment to our lives but it can definitely take away. Worry puts the emphasis on us and our abilities, rather than on God and His ability. We could not be in more capable Hands than when we “cast our cares and anxieties upon Him, for He cares for us” (1Peter 5:7)

In the book “God is in the Small Stuff” some words of wisdom are left for those who struggle with worry and

fear.

1 Don’t worry about what you can’t do. If you must worry, worry about why you won’t do what you should do.

2 Instead of worrying about what you can’t do, think about what God can do for you.

3 The best way to stop worrying is to start praying.

4 Prayer changes things; worry changes nothing.

May God bless you right now with an overwhelming sense of His peace.

Love,

Pastor Bob
