“And the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the valiant warriors. And you shall march around the city, all the men of war circling the city once. You shall do so for six days.
And it shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people will go up every man straight ahead.” Joshua 6:2-3,5
Many are facing what might be called a “Jericho Junction” in their lives. It is a time when one does everything that is right but feels like things are going in circles, and no real progress is being made when facing a major obstacle in life.
For some the unassailable wall represents an illness one must daily contend with where God seems silent. Others it is a battle seeking the provisions for your family wondering why just getting a job is so hard. Singles look at the obstacle that somehow separates them from building a home with someone they can share love with. Couples longing for children wait each month wondering if the news will be that at last the hindrance to parenthood is gone.
No matter what the barrier, it is obvious that it is bigger than we are and without the Lord to help us we stay hindered. But remember, as in the days of Joshua just continue to follow even if for awhile things are in circles. Their obedience brought down the barrier by His hand, and with a shout they went “every man straight ahead” into victory. So will you.
Love,
Pastor Bob
